Help & settings

Your photos, your balance, your choices. Find the details behind Itemello settings and workflows here.

Photo preparation

Automatic photo preparation runs on your device. Choose a background for cut-out photos. While editing, you can switch between the original and the prepared preview. The archive and handover use the exported, prepared version. Check the image before you share it.

Online photo recognition

You decide separately whether Itemello may analyse your photos online. Once you give permission, the app sends up to three smaller JPEG copies through our server to a recognition provider. No copy is larger than 960 pixels along its longest side. Metadata about the original capture, camera and location is not sent. Names, faces, addresses and serial numbers visible in the photo stay in it. Cover or crop them before sending.

Within the same recognition process, the photos are analysed twice, independently. The provider may also receive the language, validated EAN/ISBN information and limited brand and model details recognised on the device. Full OCR text is not part of this text context. You review the suggested item yourself.

A successful online photo recognition uses one Live Check. The price research for that item afterwards uses no extra check. To stop further online photo analysis, withdraw online permission in settings. That won't undo processing that has already happened.

Live Checks and research

One Live Check is reserved before online photo recognition. It is used once recognition successfully returns a result. If no item is recognised, or a technical failure occurs before success, the reservation is released. Cancellation before the reservation is free. If recognition is already running and produces a usable result, the Live Check is used even if you cancel or close the app. You review the identified item; the research into prices and matching offers that follows is already paid for.

In photo capture, a confirmed item type can also be researched without a brand or model. The result is then a general market indication, not evidence for a specific model. A market indication is not verified price evidence or a price guarantee.

Looking at a paid result again doesn't use another Live Check. If you deliberately start a new analysis, it's charged again when it succeeds. If the display is interrupted, use paid-result recovery. And an error message on its own doesn't mean nothing was deducted.

Live Check packs are one-time purchases through Apple. No subscription. The app shows available packs and prices before purchase. A support message or bug report does not automatically credit your balance. For incorrect or unusable paid results, the app has a return function. The current policy allows up to two returns in any rolling seven-day period, within 48 hours of the deduction. This also applies to starter Live Checks. A confirmed return credits back the Live Check you used, but any follow-up research still pending is then no longer prepaid. The app shows whether your result can be returned and which allowance applies.

Optional usage analytics

“Improve analytics” is off by default. Itemello sends predefined events only with your separate consent. These include opening the app and completing onboarding. Creating your first listing is recorded as well. The events contain no photos, item details, prices, search text or free-text input.

Transmission uses App Attest to verify legitimate requests. A pseudonymous technical identifier is derived for analysis. It is not an advertising or account identifier. The service’s required security checks remain separate from optional analytics.

Turning analytics off stops optional collection immediately. The app then asks the server to erase attributable usage data. Analytics stays off until erasure is fully confirmed, and the app shows the pending status. Turning it off does not mean all data have already been erased.

Support ID and balance

Your support ID is a randomly assigned public reference for support requests. You can copy it in settings. It is not a password or proof of purchase. On its own, it does not grant access to your balance.

“Restore balance” checks the same verified App Store account. An optional support ID is only compared with the balance found. This creates no new Live Checks and does not merge separate balances. An explicitly deleted account cannot be restored.

Each bug report gets a new, random bug ID. The prepared email also contains the support ID, the issue category, your description and technical details: app version, operating system, device class and language. If you choose a photo, it is re-encoded before attachment, without its original EXIF/GPS metadata. Personal details visible in the image remain. You review the email and send it yourself.

Archive and backup

The archive stores text and photos locally. In the retention setting, choose never, 30, 90 or 180 days. Automatic cleanup removes unsold listings older than that period, counted from their creation date. Items marked as sold stay in the archive for your statistics.

Archive backup creates a file with your locally stored text and photos. You choose where to save it or whom to share it with. Clearing the archive leaves exported files, photos in your photo library and marketplace listings where they are.

Appearance and defaults

Choose the appearance, colour palette and app icon. “Liquid Glass & Effects” controls decorative transparency and motion. The app takes system settings for reduced motion, reduced transparency, increased contrast and Low Power Mode into account.

When you open marketplace selection, your default marketplace is already selected. Your writing style applies to new listings. Text you have already edited stays as it is. These preferences are stored locally in the app.
